The Star BLADE earring is available in 9 kt. fully traceable gold or recycled silver.

BLADE is a stark design for a gang that cares about fairness and the environment. We are based in Iceland and our products are hand-made by local craftsmen (in Árbær). The earring comes in a little drawstring bag and a black eco-friendly box. We would love to ship it to you wherever you are in the world.

The gold is from an ASM (Artisinal Small-Scale Mine) mine in Uganda called SAMA (Syanyonja Artisan Miners' Alliance). This is the first mine to be Fairtrade certified in Africa (2017).

The Edge BLADE Stærri earring is sold separately, because we seldom wear matching earrings. If you want a pair, then choose two items. The earring is 25 mm tall/high with the MXIA makers mark engraved inside. The earring is 9ct solid gold and hallmarked appropriately (375).

At this time, it is not possible to stamp our products with the fairtrade stamp in Iceland, but we’re working on legalities with the municipalities and government to make this possible in the future. Fairtrade gold means that the miners co-op has received the London Bullion price for the gold as well as a 5% premium for social development.

On treasure maps, the location of the hidden goods are typically marked with an X. That is why the ligature for MXIA Reykjavík is an X, emphasising the importance of traceability and transparency.

If you want solid gold jewellery, why not choose fully traceable gold because it really does make a difference for the miners and the environment (currently, Fairtrade gold is the only certification for traceability in gold). We believe that a natural resource like gold should fund the miners and the mining community (schools, workshops, wi-fi, sport facilities, etc.).
